Mediation Experience:	Served as a mediator in over 125 disputes -- private and through the Superior Courts of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco and Solano Counties. Also serve on panel for Arts and Arbitration Service of California Lawyers for the Arts.
Mediation Training:	BASF-- Ron Kelly: 40 hour mediation training and certificate. BASF--Maude Prevere: 7 hour negotiation training. Additional varied mediation training. Training includes 32 hours U.S. District Court, Northern District of California Mediation panel.
Arbitration Experience:	Served as an arbitrator in over 15 disputes -- binding and non-binding Judicial Arbitration.
Settlement Conference Experience:	Member, Mandatory Settlement Conference Panel of the Superior Court of San Francisco.

Mediation Approach:	I like to begin facilitatively and to involve the clients. It is often helpful to allow them to speak for themselves, which often has a purgative effect. As the session progresses, I move toward a directive approach if the parties are not making progress. Ultimately, I will not shy from giving my opinion on the likely outcome of trial. It would be a rare occasion when I start a mediation by speaking only to the lawyers and asking them for a settlement figure.
Arbitration Approach:	Arbitration varies depending on the case and the parties. In some cases it is quite formal and judicial in nature. In others, the rules of evidnece and presentation of the case are relaxed.
Other Information:	I bring real world experience to the job of mediation. I was an independent filmmaker for many years. I hand built the house I live in. I currently have a side business manufacturing bear resistant food bags for campers (Ursack) based on my patent.
