I practiced law in the areas of commercial litigation, land use and environmental law. I was elected to the Superior Court bench in Contra Costa County in 1996; I served two years in the Family Law Department, two years in Civil Fast Track and one year in felony trials. In 2002 I was appointed to the First District Court of Appeal, where I served for 16 years. I retired in February, 2018.
