Mediation
Experience:

I have mediated over 130 cases and participated in or initiated peace (i.e., the resolution of international armed conflicts) and other conflict resolution initiatives since around 2006. My mediation experience has spanned various topics, such as ethnoreligious conflict, discrimination, housing, harassment, parenting agreements, auto, insurance, unlawful detainer, small claims, and business cases. In addition, I regularly provide conflict coaching on various interpersonal conflicts. Although my expertise is primarily in social identity or discrimination issues, I have also been trained in patent law, STEM, and trusts and estates, so I should be able to mediate those cases.
Mediation
Training:

SEEDS mediation certificate (2020); MIT mediation certificate (2007), The George Washington University Law School mediation course, various other continuing education courses related to conflict resolution and negotiations.
Arbitration
Experience:

I have evaluated discrimination complaints and drafted findings on discrimination cases for a local government administrative process.

Other
Education:

Harvard Extension School (certificate in
Organizational Behavior), The George Washington University Law School (JD), Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (BS in Brain & Cognitive Sciences, BS in Political Science, minor in Applied International Studies).
Mediation
Approach:

I have a facilitative approach. I was trained in interest-based negotiations. When applicable, I delve into values and social identity issues. I take a practical approach by empowering parties to address all issues thoroughly in settlement agreements so that parties will not be confused or conflicted about what they agreed to or how to enforce the agreement. By addressing issues up front, parties will avoid spending unnecessary time and expense in further litigation due to unclear settlements.

I excel in mediation cases with high conflict (i.e., bad blood) of an interpersonal, polarizing, and
cross-cultural nature.
Arbitration
Approach:

I listen to all sides and try to ensure that all relevant facts come through so that there is a fair and correct decision based on the law.
Other
Information:

I have a background in the psychology of bias and organizational behavior, so I am conscious of how to mediate and arbitrate in a non-partisan way, mindful of biases that mediators bring, especially in discrimination cases.
